Psalm 121 begins with these words:
"I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth."

Frankly, there are times when the silence of God can be crippling. But in those moments, I believe God is simply saying, "Wait on me. Wait and see what I do...for my grace is sufficient for you."

My favorite part of this song is the assurance I find in hearing God's voice speak through Hebrews 11:1 - "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." - and the understanding that waiting is an act of faith based on God's track record. He has been faithful in the past, he is faithful in the present, and with that knowledge of His character we can have faith, He will be faithful in the days to come. Nad we can trust him in the waiting.

lyrics

VERSE 1
I lift my eyes to the mountains
Is that where my help is coming from?
‘Cuz sometimes I hear no words to my ear
And the silence I fear leaves me numb

VERSE 2
Now sometimes I’m perfectly patient,
But mostly the waiting seems long
‘Cuz I don’t know when to hold to your hand
And when I should keep moving on.

CHORUS
You say to wait, wait on you,
Even when I can’t see your ways,
You say just wait, and have faith,
And then I will see your grace.

VERSE 3
Help me, dear Jesus, to let go,
Of all that I’m holding so tight,
And when I can’t see your hand guiding me,
Help me to see through your eyes.

BRIDGE
Now if faith is being sure of what we hope for,
And certain of what we’ve not seen,
Then knowing you have provided and you will be faithful
What more do I need to believe?
