The Via Dolorosa (also known as the way of suffering) is the path in Jerusalem which is believed to have been the journey Jesus took to Calvary. I am reminded of the words we often use to describe Jesus' ministry when we say, "He lived the life we were meant to live and died the death we were meant to die." We pause and reflect, remembering that Jesus carried our cross and walked our way of suffering down the dark way of the cross. There is a sadness, a sorrow, a weeping that encompasses this piece. Almost as if we watch in silence the painful, violent journey Jesus trudges toward his gruesome death.
