The Child I Am

from forty4 by Randy Bonifield

/

lyrics

I’m holding still,
I am not moving the way I should be,
And I am afraid
For I am not sure if it’s You or it is me,
And I cannot see with my eyes,
And I cannot feel it inside,
And so I begin to wonder why.

But it’s Your Love that reaches me,
And it’s Your Word that changes me,
It’s Your Grace that’s holding me,
And helps me understand,
It’s Your Light that makes me see,
There is more You want of me,
And that Your Hand is molding me,
Into the child I am.

I have been wrong,
I’ve been so mistaken by what I thought was true,
I opened my eyes,
To find that the answers are fading from view,
And I don’t know just what to do,
For all that I thought that I knew,
Gets lost in the light of You.

And though I can’t see with my eyes,
And I cannot feel it inside,
I know that You’re changing my mind.

But it’s Your Love that reaches me,
And it’s Your Word that changes me,
It’s Your Grace that’s holding me,
And helps me understand,
It’s Your Light that makes me see,
There is more You want of me,
And that Your Hand is molding me,
Into the child I am.
