about

Featuring the Christ Community Leawood Campus congregation, this track represents the Christmas Eve tradition of Christ Community Church. Each Christmas Eve, Christ Community holds four services that include the singing of Christmas songs woven around the reading of the Christmas story from the first two chapters of the book of Luke in the New Testament. The culmination of the service is the lighting of individual candles from one worshiper to another as we sing "Silent Night." On the last verse, candles are lifted as the voices of the congregation sing the first verse to close the service. And so just as it closes the Christmas Eve service, this beautiful carol serves as the most fitting ending to "Songs of Christmas."

lyrics

Verse 1
Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon virgin, mother and Child,
Holy Infant, so tender and mild.
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Verse 2
Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight.
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heav'nly hosts sing, "Alleluia,
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born."

Verse 3
Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love's pure light.
Radiant beams from Thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace.
Jesus, Lord at Thy birth,
Jesus, Lord at Thy birth.
