The Beauty of Weakness

by Randy Bonifield

/
1.
VERSE 1 I bind unto myself today, The strong name of the Trinity, By invocation of the same, The Three in One and One in Three. By whom all nature has been made, Eternal Father, Spirit, Son: O praise the Mighty One who saves, For Love’s redeeming work is done. VERSE 2 I bind unto myself today By power of faith, His Word made flesh The holy One in Jordan’s waves The sinless Son who paid my debt And bursting from the empty tomb The power of death He rolled away; This Risen King, who’s coming soon, I bind unto myself today. CHORUS Christ be with me, Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ before, Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore. Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ in quiet, and the storm, Christ in hearts of all who love me, Christ in all forevermore. VERSE 3 I bind unto myself today The power of God to hold and lead, His eye to watch, His might to stay, His ear to hearken to my need. The wisdom of my God to teach, His hand to guide, His shield to ward, The word of God to give me speech, His heavenly host to be my guard. TAG I bind unto myself today, The strong name of the Trinity.

VERSE 1: I bring to Thee my heart to fill; I feel how weak I am, but still To Thee for help, I call. In joy or grief, to live or die, For earth or Heaven, this is my cry, Be Thou my all in all. CHORUS: Christ is all, yes, all in all. My Christ is all in all. Christ is all, yes, all in all. My Christ is all in all. VERSE 2: I've little strength to call my own, And what I've done, before Thy throne I here confess, is small; But on Thy strength. O God, I lean, And through the blood that makes me clean, Thou art my all in all.
3.
CHORUS: Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy on me. Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy on me. VERSE: In my weakness and in my shame, From this darkness, I call out Your name. Come and deliver my soul from this pain, Lord have mercy on me.

Word of God 04:49
VERSE 1: As it was from the beginning, You’ve held it all within Your hand. Speaking words into existence, Creation formed at Your command; The Life and Light of every man. CHORUS: WORD of God, breathe on me, Bring new life into these bones. Let Your WORD cover me, Speaking peace and love and hope, That your WORD would guide me home, WORD of God. VERSE 2: In a quiet, lowly stable, The WORD of God came down to breathe, Bringing life to broken place, Hope to all who would believe, Speak those words again to me. BRIDGE That Your WORD would be my peace, Let your WORD deliver me. LAST CHORUS WORD of God, breathe on me, Bring new life into these bones. Let Your WORD cover me, Speaking peace and love and hope, That your WORD would guide me home, Let your WORD come make me whole, WORD of God.

Psalm 130 01:38

Wait 05:00
VERSE 1 I lift my eyes to the mountains Is that where my help is coming from? ‘Cuz sometimes I hear no words to my ear And the silence I fear leaves me numb VERSE 2 Now sometimes I’m perfectly patient, But mostly the waiting seems long ‘Cuz I don’t know when to hold to your hand And when I should keep moving on. CHORUS You say to wait, wait on you, Even when I can’t see your ways, You say just wait, and have faith, And then I will see your grace. VERSE 3 Help me, dear Jesus, to let go, Of all that I’m holding so tight, And when I can’t see your hand guiding me, Help me to see through your eyes. BRIDGE Now if faith is being sure of what we hope for, And certain of what we’ve not seen, Then knowing you have provided and you will be faithful What more do I need to believe?

VERSE1: O the dark, dark way of the cross, O the dark, dark way of the cross, Beaten, scorned, and mocked, still my Jesus walked, O the dark, dark way of the cross. VERSE2: There he bore my cross to Calvary, There he bore my cross to Calvary, Took the weight of sin on his back with him When he bore my cross to Calvary, CHORUS 1: Oh, the blood he poured From the thorns on the crown that he wore Oh the road he walked, Down that dark, dark way of the cross. VERSE 3: Then they nailed his body to that tree, Then they nailed his body to that tree, Took our sin and death with his dying breath, When they nailed his body to that tree CHORUS 2: Oh my death he died, When my Savior was crucified Oh when hope was lost, Walked that dark, dark way of the cross.

In the morning, when I rise In the morning, when I rise In the morning, when I rise, give me Jesus Give me Jesus, Give me Jesus, You can have all this world, But give me Jesus When I am alone When I am alone When I am alone, give me Jesus Give me Jesus, Give me Jesus, You can have all this world, But give me Jesus When I come to die When I come to die When I come to die, give me Jesus
11.
Jesus, More than a name is Jesus. Ever the same is Jesus; He's everything to me. Jesus, There's power in the name of Jesus. My heart will proclaim that Jesus, He's everything to me. CHORUS And when all is said, And when all is done, There is only one, He's everything to me.

about

Every Christmas, my family pulls out a bin of Christmas CDs to play throughout the season. It's a wonderful collection of songs of inspiration and celebration designed to lead us through the season of Advent. With "The Beauty of Weakness," I wanted to create something similar for the season of Lent. As we were walking through our Lenten series at my church, Christ Community Church in Leawood, Kansas, I was determined not only to create a music resource to accompany our devotional book and teaching series, but also something we could return to each year to assist us as we take the 40 day journey of Lent. This collection of songs is designed to be experienced as a whole. It is designed to encourage reflection, contemplation, introspection, and ultimately devotion. Each song builds upon the other to journey the listener through a musical liturgy pushing the worshiper toward a life of thanksgiving, commitment, and devotion.
